Sudanese Playboys

Indie / Pop / Funk
The Sudanese Playboys are as culturally exotic and diverse as their quirky name suggests. They bring together influences from these island shores, the Middle East, the Caribbean sun and Scandinavian snows to create unique indie pop songs you just can't help singing. They pull no punches in expressing their experiences and beliefs and with the release of their new Anyhow EP they invite you to join them on their crusade to the dark lands.

They were formed in 2008 by J'a and Mem in the trendy paradise of Palmers Green, just north of the 406. They met, as many musicians have, at the well know Lester Clayton night at T Birds, Finsbury Park. Here they played alongside the likes of Lol from The Education, Murray McDonald, Ed Sheeran and the big LC himself.

As their logo suggests, the boys are fighting for their music. Record companies no longer make money as they used to from record sales and the promotion of new bands. One venue after another is downsizing to acoustic/open mic nights where bands must provide their own promotion and beer drinking fans to keep the places afloat.

Rising from this The Sudanese Playboys, together with The Way Studio are forging a new independent path along which others will no doubt follow. In The Way Studio they have found the quality normally associated with a bygone era and major label millions. They now count as stable mates world famous acts like The Horrors, Noel Gallagher, Thomas Dolby, Nick Cave and the The Bees. The Playboys are looking forward to the official launch party of the new EP in central London. Watch this space for details and get on board for a magical journey :)

Acoustic

A few new...well very old tracks from the depths of a dusty vault actually. And why not? Still love the sound of an overly loud electric guitar!

Right, that's it for now, I'm off to listen to "Joe's Garage" really loud...

"...you'll love it, it's a way of life..."

oh, and don't let the b*****ds get you down.

Travel Light

or..."Sota Tale"...for anyone who's been to Fiji
